You might be surprise to read this, or perhaps laugh… believe this or not, yesterday was my first time in my life to hit the oval track
I’ve been running since last year in the mountains, trails, dirt, cement, asphalt but not in the oval track.
I finally got a bus from silang to pasay at 3.15pm and was able to reach ULTRA at 5.40, 10 minutes late from the appointed time. I was in the jeepney heading to Pasig from shaw and the driver was puzzled when i said i’m gonna get off in kapilyo. A very kind lady then ask me where would i go and i tell her ULTRA. She then instructed me where to get off and gave me direction how to reach ULTRA. I crossed the road, jog for about 5 minutes, asked a guy where is the entrance to oval track, and finally, ULTRA Oval Track.
I met Coach Espejo and the session was begin by having a warm up. Later Coach Espejo introduced me to Coach Salazar and continue with a specific warm up. I was impressed to know that Coach Salazar could speak some words of Bahasa Indonesia. In fact, he started to gave instructions in my language. Phew… i was laughing in most of the time.
…and of course a specific training of ‘drinking while running’ for me hahaha…
I would like to express my gratitude to the Team BaldRunner, Coach Espejo and Coach Salazar. Yesterday session was a new revelation for me. Thanks for the ‘anti-stitch Salazar’ technique by Coach Salazar
. Thanks to Je for the water supply…
Looking forward to see you guys on Wednesday next week.

Can you drink now while running?

Hi Jerry. If I were in the Philippines, my Wednesday nights would be at the Ultra. I have complete confidence in Team Baldrunner. The coaches know what they’re doing and you can see the results already!
Coach Salazar, Coach Espejo, Baldrunner and I share many of the training philosophies. It’s everything for the running community to gain.
Take care and keep running! 2009 is not far off!
